Healthier Sloppy Joe Recipe

Very American - A Sloppy Joe is a snack where a minced meat sauce, similar to a hamburger, is served on a bun.

Ingredients

Pumpkin
900 g, butternut

Oil, olive oil
11/2 TB

Chili powder
1/2 tsp

Herbs
1 tsp, mixed and dried

Salt/iodine salt
1 pinch(s)

Pepper
1 pinch(s)

Beef, corner piece, raw
500 g

Garlic
1 toe(s)

Bouillon, meat bouillon, prepared
200 ml, beef (1 tsp instant powder)

Tomatoes chopped, peeled (canned)
400 g

Salad, lettuce
4 sheets (leaves)

Brötli, Hamburger-Brötli/Bun
4 pieces, small


Preparation


  1. Preheat oven to 200°C (gas: level 3, circulating air: 180°C). Wash pumpkin, halve, remove seeds with a spoon, and cut the pumpkin into crevices. Place the pumpkin clefts on a baking sheet lined with baking paper, sprinkle with 1 tbsp oil, sprinkle with chili flakes and 1/2 tsp herbs and season with salt and pepper. Bake the pumpkin clefts in the oven on a medium-high pan for 40-45 minutes.
  2. Heat the remaining oil in a high-level frying pan and fry the minced meat in it. Add the garlic, fry for about 1 minute, and season with the bouillon and tomatoes. Refine with remaining herbs, bring to the boil, and simmer on a medium level for about 15 minutes.
  3. Wash the salad and shake dry. Cut and roast burger rolls. Cover the lower halves of the bread with lettuce, add the minced meat mixture and cover with top halves of the bun. Serve Sloppy Joes with pumpkin wedges.
